Cognisant Search has been instructed to appoint a General Manager (Director Designate) on behalf of a high-quality, construction components manufacturer and installer. The business has delivered numerous, high-profile projects both in the UK and internationally. The opportunity is excellent, you will learn everything about the role, company and markets and then take over as Managing Director, leading the company and working with the silent partners.

Responsibilities include:

  • Overall responsibility for the day-to-day management and strategy of the business on behalf of the owners and reporting monthly

  • Leading the department heads to expedite workload monitoring/improving performance and ensuring that company targets are achieved

  • Ensure that the organisation is customer facing, profitably developing existing relationships and creating new ones

  • Ensuring the operation of the business runs effectively, delivering on time and to production satisfaction, continuously improving and reacting to new trends, legislation etc

  • Ensure compliance with employment and H&S law, GDRP and other legal items

  • Overall responsibility for all aspects of procurement ensuring that best value is achieved

We are keen to speak with ambitious individuals from the manufacturing sector, ideally with an understanding of products sold into the construction sector. You can come from any discipline within the sector; however, you must be able to demonstrate a broad base of knowledge of the wider business (i.e. manufacturing, sales, design, finance etc). The existing managing director will work closely with you to get up to speed and then pull away gradually as you take on the role.
